What we do

Our role is to help Catholic entities and organisations create and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for all who engage with the Catholic Church in Australia. The 10 National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS)

These standards guide our Military Diocese to embed a strong safety culture through robust governance, HR, training, environments, and continuous improvement, ensuring policies underpin all safeguarding efforts. 

  1. Leadership and Governance: Embedding safeguarding in culture and leadership.
  2. Children's Rights & Participation: Children are informed, participate, and are taken seriously.
  3. Family & Community Engagement: Involving families, carers, and communities.
  4. Equity & Diversity: Promoting equity and respecting diversity.
  5. Robust HR: Suitable recruitment, supervision, and support.
  6. Effective Complaints: Responsive and accessible complaint processes.
  7. Ongoing Training: Equipping personnel with knowledge and skills.
  8. Safe Environments: Identifying and reducing risks in physical & online spaces.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Regularly reviewing and improving systems.
