Remembrance Day - 11 November 2025

We invite you to join Rev Dr Peter Devenish Meares in a solemn prayer for Remembrance Day.

Reemebrance Day - Lest we Forget November 11

Remembrance Day is November 11. The Great War came to an end at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918. Every year, we take a moment of silence to remember the bravery of those who served, to lament the lives lost, and to rekindle our fervent hope for world peace. As we remember, we invite you to join Deacon Peter in prayer. Click on image.

A Time to Reflect

On November 11th, Remembrance Day, we commemorate the day in 1918 when the guns went silent at 11 a.m. and take time to remember those who lost their lives in combat, peacekeeping, and operations. We pay tribute to everyone who has paid for their services. Since then, a sacred minute of silence has been observed annually to remember bravery, lament loss, and reaffirm our commitment to a world at peace rather than to glorify conflict. We stand with veterans and their loved ones as we remember the names inscribed in stone and in our hearts, acknowledging the visible and invisible wounds. We want to have the fortitude to help everyone impacted by war. Permit me to pray, please.

We honour the fallen, those who gave their lives in defence of their nation, God of peace and compassion. Take care of everyone who is grieving, everyone who has physical, mental, or spiritual scars, and everyone who is still serving. Give us the grace to honour their sacrifice with lives that pursue justice, mercy, and reconciliation in addition to words. Give us the strength to mend the broken hearts and the discernment and bravery to seek peace. May our silence bring about resolution and our remembrance inspire hope. Through Christ, our Lord, we make this request. Amen.
