Stand with persecuted Christians

Red Wednesday, 19 November 2025 Aid to the Church in Need (ACN)  invites you to join in this special day to pray for and stand in solidarity with the  200+ million Christians persecuted for their faith.  Around the world, churches and public buildings will light up in red as a symbol of the sacrifice and suffering of our modern-day martyrs. In Australia and New Zealand, over 20 Cathedrals will be lit in red, with some holding Masses and prayer vigils for persecuted Christians.

This year we are also extending the initiative to Red November to allow more participation for Parishes. Parishes and groups may choose to celebrate a special Mass or prayer event on a date that is appropriate, or by supporting the Holy Land with a donation or by purchasing olivewood religious items from Bethlehem.  Through your participation, you will also be building a bridge of love with persecuted Christian communities, letting them know they are not alone.  To find out what is happening at a Cathedral or church near you and other ways to get involved visit rednovember.org.
